Joya runs an airline's flight operations: what is flying, who is on board, and
whether everyone on board is legally allowed to be there.
Almost every screen is a view of the same handful of objects. Learn these six
and the rest of the manual reads easily.
A trip is the container. It has a name (for example 4-2026/318) and holds one
or more legs flown by one aircraft. Documents such as the General Declaration
are produced per trip; so is the trip-level Crew List.
One departure and one arrival — THR → MHD. A leg carries its flight number,
aircraft, times (STD/STA) and, crucially, its own crew. Two legs of the same
trip can be flown by different people, which is why most documents exist at both
trip and leg level.
A user record with a position on a given leg (CPT, FO, cabin, and so on).
The same person can hold different positions on different aircraft types — see
Ratings.
A position is a seat (CPT, FO, SCC). A rating is permission to occupy
that seat on a specific aircraft type. A pilot rated CPT on a 737 is not
automatically rated CPT on a 747.
A qualification with an expiry date — a licence, a medical, a line check.
Endorsements are defined once for the airline, then held individually by crew
with their own issue and expiry dates. Joya watches them and warns before they
lapse. See Endorsements.
Flight Time Limitations. Joya tracks duty periods and rest so it can tell you
when a roster would break the rules.

Assigning a crew member to a leg makes Joya check, at that moment, that they
hold the rating for the seat, that their endorsements are valid on the day of
the flight, and that the duty fits inside FTL. What blocks a save and what only
warns is configurable — see Validation & warnings.
Some things are not entered by anyone; the system maintains them. Where that is
true, this manual says so explicitly, because it is the usual source of
confusion:
