A trip holds one or more legs flown by one aircraft. The editor covers both: the
trip's identity on one tab, each leg's detail on another.
Where: OPS → NEW TRIP / EDIT TRIP, or click any row · Permission:
ops, plus opsManageTrip to save
| Tab | For |
|---|---|
| CHECKLIST | The ops checklist for the leg |
| DSP | Dispatch |
| FLIGHT | The leg itself — times, route, aircraft |
| TRIP | Trip-level identity and notes |
| CREW | Who is on it — see Assigning crew |
| PAX | Passengers |
| FW & JL | Flight watch and journey log |
| Docs | Attached files |
CHECKLIST, DSP, FW & JL and Docs stay disabled until the leg has
been saved once — the message says Save the leg first.
Required: Date, Flight No, Aircraft, Departure, STD,
Destination, STA, ICAO Type, Rule.
Filled in for you and not editable: A/C Type (from the aircraft) and
Block (STA − STD).
Flight Time is entered, not calculated. It is a separate figure from
Block, which is derived. Do not expect changing the times to update it.
Optional: ALTN 1 / 2, Distance (nm), Rest Facility, Rotation, AOC, tags,
OPS NOTES and files.
Trip No is generated automatically and only becomes editable after the trip
has been saved. Also here: Status (Confirmed / Option / Opportunity),
Type, Commercial, Move leg to another trip, tags, Notes,
Trip Supplementary Info and file upload.
SAVE commits the whole trip and all its legs in one operation — there is
no per-leg save.
If anything is wrong, a panel appears before the save completes. What happens
next depends on the finding — see
Assigning crew → What blocks a save.
Deleting a saved leg strikes it through rather than removing it; Restore
brings it back.
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Four tabs are greyed out | The leg has never been saved | Fill in the FLIGHT tab and save once |
| Save refused with a list of findings | Validation — see Assigning crew | Fix, or override where allowed |
| Changes appear to save but are gone later | You lack the privilege for that tab; the save reports success but drops it | Ask an administrator for the matching opsManage… privilege |
| Cannot set a time in the past | Blocked unless you hold opsManageBeforeNow |
